The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) recently awarded 242 scholarships totaling $502,825. These new scholarship recipients were comprised of high school seniors, current college students, and non-traditional students.
The 2022 scholarship cycle offered award opportunities from 66 scholarship funds, many of which awarded more than one scholarship. Each scholarship had specific eligibility criteria and was reviewed anonymously. This year, 129 community advocates volunteered their time to assist with the scholarship reviews.
“We are honored to work with people who desire to help students pursue their educational journey by providing these scholarship opportunities,” says Megan Martin, VP of Marketing & Development at NGCF.
According to Martin, there is a critical need in the field of education. In 2021, NGCF distributed $16.5 million in grants to support a diverse range of areas; nearly half of these total grants were in support of student scholarships as well as educational institutions or programs.
